Family-owned · Lovingly restored

Welcome to Evergreen Farm

Evergreen Farm at Rocky Creek is a family-owned farm and barn wedding venue near Charlottesville, Virginia, run by husband-and-wife team Larry and Tina. We fell in love with these 225 acres of forest and pasture in 2021 and spent five years restoring them, doing much of the work ourselves with help from family and friends. Now we share them for weddings and the moments that matter most.

A long-held dream

For most of our marriage, we dreamed of a quieter life in the country. In October 2021, around our silver anniversary, we finally found it: Evergreen Farm at Rocky Creek.

The farm had been neglected for years, and the old barn was half abandoned. But we were hooked the first time we drove in. The land is wrapped in forest and pasture, open and peaceful. As you come slowly up the winding drive, the barn rises into view like the morning sun. We knew right away this was the place.

Too beautiful to keep to ourselves

Once we settled in, we felt this place was too beautiful to keep to ourselves. We wanted to share it with people at the biggest moments of their lives: weddings, reunions, anniversaries and other days worth remembering. So we started rebuilding, one project at a time, designing every one ourselves.

Restored with gratitude

We see this land as a gift from God, and we restored it to give Him the glory. Every beam we raised and every flower Tina planted was, for us, a way of saying thank you. Our prayer is that everyone who gathers here feels welcomed, cared for and blessed.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

The Grand Sunrise Deck

One of our first projects was a large deck behind the Residence. Larry designed it, studied the building codes and built it over nearly a year, with friends pitching in on the footings and joists. In 2025 we hosted a friend's wedding reception on it, and our guests loved it.

Next, we repainted the old pergola and brought the lawn back to life with professional care. It became our pasture-view ceremony lawn, and soon after, we hosted another friend's private wedding there.

Emberwood Pavilion

A landscape designer friend pointed us to a quiet hollow at the edge of the forest. We laid the paver promenade and the fire pit ourselves, poured the fire pit's base, and built the pavilion with friends' help. Today it feels like a quiet little world of its own.

Bloomway Garden

Tina, a retired university professor who loves flowers, floral design and oil painting, designed this garden from her first sketch and planted it herself. Something is blooming in every season, and the garden swing is a favorite spot for portraits.

The heart of it all is the old barn. We designed the renovation ourselves, adding new spaces on every side in keeping with its character. The lighting and sound we did with our own hands: Larry designed and built the chandeliers and the illuminated crown molding that gave the hall its name. At night, the ring of light under the cupola and horse weathervane can be seen from far away.

Family, friends and five years of work

It took five years, and a lot of time and energy, to bring the farm back. We couldn't have done it without the support of our son and daughter-in-law, and the many friends who pitched in. When our grandkids visit, they run through the gardens, pick the fruit and vegetables Tina grows, and chase our dog Blake across the lawn. Watching them reminds us why we started.
